Joe Spatarella, Singer / Songwriter

Photography by Russ Haire

Joe has been playing music and writing songs for most of his adult life. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York listening to Jimi Hendrix and began his music career playing in hard rock bands. Over time, Joe's music evolved to original acoustic folk-rock songs about politics, social issues and an on-going struggle with space and time.

A resident of Maryland since 1987, he is a board member of the Baltimore Songwriters Association (BSA) and has released two CD EPs of original music, "Some Other Soul" and "Not What You Say".

His song, “One More Time” can be heard on the Baltimore Songwriters Association (BSA) Compilation CD “Songs From Our Circle TOO” and has been played on listener supported radio stations including WETA (Washington, DC) Traditions program and WTMD (Towson University, Towson, Maryland) Detours program.

The song "In The End" from his CD "Not What You Say" was featured on the BSA Compilation CD, "Songs From Our Circle, 4".

His song "Water Rites" was selected for the 2007 juried CD "Songs From A Charmed City".

Joe is currently working on his next CD scheduled for release in 2009.
